Stereophonic 12 Artist-in-Residence Mitchell Wiebe has until Sunday to do something really awesome in Sackville. Wiebe will be working on a mural at STRUTS Artist Run Centre that will serve as a backdrop for the twelfth edition of the festival.

This isn’t the first time Weibe paints the walls at STRUTS. Ten years ago, he came to Sackville as the gallery’s Open Studio Artist-in-Residence. His work during the residency featured a psychedelic panda with window-eyes cut into the wall, looking in on Wiebe’s workshop. He noted that, with only a week to complete his work, no major architectural modifications will be featured in this mural.

Wiebe will be performing at a free concert in the bar in the basement of Mount Allison’s Student Centre, located at 62 York Street, this Sunday, January 18. The free show features Halifax band The Age and G.L.A.M. Bats, an experimental lounge comedy act. “I’ve heard of them before,” says Wiebe, “I hear they’re pretty off-beat. It should be good.”
