Critically acclaimed filmmaker Atom Egoyan is kicking off Mount Allison University’s President’s Speakers Series with his talk “How We All Became Baby Giraffes,” which will be presented this Tuesday, 23 September, at 7pm at Convocation Hall. Egoyan will be looking at the historical change in the process of filmmaking with the advent of accessible digital tools for creating and distributing film.

Egoyan joined Boardwalk to shed some light on the content of tomorrow’s talk. He says digital editing tools and distribution platforms like Vimeo have brought about “a wild democratization of the process” of filmmaking. Egoyan also delved into some of the themes in his work, notably the complex topic of evil. He says that his most recent film, The Captive, grew out of an interest in examining “what happens when a future is eradicated.”
