Foundry Fire

The 104-year-old Enterprise-Fawcett foundry building in Sackville was destroyed by fire last night. Today firefighters are still on the scene as collapsed parts of structure continue to smolder.

The foundry, located next to George’s Roadhouse, erupted into flames early last night and raged into the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters from surrounding areas assisted the Sackville Fire Department in containing the blaze.

The full impact of the damage is not yet known, but several businesses, as well as a warehouse space and artist studios were destroyed in the fire. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Power Restored – Exams Rescheduled for 7:30 pm

A temporary power outage had us off the air temporarily this afternoon.The outage was caused by a fallen tree on Salem Street. As a result of the outage, all exams set for Thursday, December 8, 2011 have been delayed.
All exams set for 7:00 p.m. tonight have been rescheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
Information on the power outage and its effects will be updated as required at 939-SNOW and on the university web site at www.mta.ca.

CHMA End of Season Party

Are you a volunteer with CHMA? Our end of season CHMA party will be held December 9 at George’s Roadhouse. A concert with Cousins, Klarka Weinrum and Peter Bohan will follow, but before that we’ll be having a nice get together with programmers and volunteers so please mark the date on your calendar!

CHMA Mario Kart Tournament!

Do you have a need for speed? Are you a go kart junkie? Do you have a hankering for everything N64 and a yearning for competition? Well CHMA is proud to announce their annual CHMA Mario Kart Tournament!

For anyone who hasn’t been to our office, our Mario Kart 64 is a bit of a source of friendly rivalry and the envy of our neighbors, The Argosy. On November 5th, 2:00 pm come to the office (3rd Floor of the WMSC) and battle it out with our CHMA staff and volunteers.

All are welcome to play and if you don’t have any Mario Kart experience, no worries! We’ll have some sweet prizes and the champion will get the coveted Mario Hat.

Archivist Party

On Tuesday, October 18, the Music Department will be hosting their first (of many) Archivist Party! What is an Archivist Party? We get a lot of new CDs on a daily basis here at CHMA, and to make sure they’re available for our programmers to play, we have to archive them. So about once a month, we get together (with FREE PIZZA) and archive a ton of CDs. It’s easy to do, and a fun way to hang out and meet our super rad Music Department. FREE PIZZA? COWABUNGA DUDE
